Sainsbury Official Xmas Ad, 2014

Be prepared to shed a few quiet tears.  This puts things in the right perspective for me.  Thank you to my good friend for emailing this to me.  I don't know if I could have found it on my own.

If only. . . .

The You tube connection has links to the making of this video and they are also worthwhile.

May there be Peace on Earth, but sometimes it is so difficult.

  1. More than a few quiet tears. I'm not sure about the football but most of this did actually happen and it's so sad that the next few hours many of these young men were dead.

  3. And the worst part of it is, that the human race has learned nothing from the past. In my opinion.

  4. Dear Jo and Wendy: I don't think that as a whole, the human race has learned anything from past mistakes. And yet, the lessons are out there.

    1. Sadly, if we don't learn from the mistakes of history we are doomed to repeat them,

    2. ....and as your official DJ I recommend this English Folk singer, the holy June Tabor, with a wonderful WW1 song. That will bring a tear to your eye:

  5. Hi Tasha .. it's a true story. We have a number of programmes on this - and I'm sure there will be more hitting our screens fairly soon ... this is an article about that ad and additional information ...

I hadn't picked up the ad yet .. so was glad to see it and then to read the Mail's article ...

Thanks Tasha - interesting to see .. I'm sure I'll be seeing this over the Christmas season .. cheers Hilary

    1. I will look at all of your references. I am sure there will be many more, but that is a good thing. So many of our American kids have no idea of any history before the 60's. I don't think that many could tell you much about WW I.

  6. I saw this on other blogs too and it is such a good reminder of what we can do when we make an effort. I too had expected the world to be a better place by now but that does not seem possible.

  7. At least we are reminded of what is possible, and then the worst side of our natures bubbles up again, power, jealousy, tribal mentality, cruelty and more.
